SHARJAH: Sharjah Media City (Shams), an innovative free zone hub for specialized facilities in creative and media industries, announced that it has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Z5X Global FZ LLC, a media distribution and management company registered in the International Media Production Zone of Dubai.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Khalid Omer Al Midfa, Chairman, Shams, and Nadine Samra, Vice-President Digital Business ME and Africa, Z5X, at a signing ceremony held in Sharjah.

The MoU, which became effective on June 30, 2018, outlines the basis upon which Shams and Z5X have agreed to collaborate in a number of areas of mutual interest, the primary purpose of which is to promote both entities as strategic partners for content development, broadcasting, and distribution within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

As world leaders in the media domain, Zee Entertainment had recently announced the launch of its video on demand service, Z5 Weyyak, a premium Arabic VOD platform targeting the Arabic audience through multiple electronic devices.

Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa hailed the MoU as a landmark collaboration, stating, “We look forward to our partnership with Z5X, which will see greater cooperation and shared resources between our two organisations.
