FUJAIRAH: The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Fujairah on Thursday exempted a Yemeni national, Omer Rabie Mohammed Omer, who has been staying illegally in the UAE since he was born in December 1994, from total fines of Dhs829,000, having stayed illegally in the UAE for 8,515 days, according to Brigadier Dr Ahmed Ali Al Sagheeri, Acting Executive Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Fujairah.

Omer was granted residence as a citizen of war-torn countries and he can now resume his study, which was interrupted since he was in grade 6.

Omer, who has been staying with his aunt, a UAE citizen, in Awhala, Fujairah, was born in the UAE to a Pakistani mother and a Yemeni citizen.

His parents did not apply for an official residence for him as his mother was separated from his father since he was 4 years old and left for Pakistan.
