Fairy tale raffle win for Syrian at DSF

DUBAI: Patience and perseverance finally paid off for Mohammed Eyad from Syria, whose 15-year wait to hit the lucky trail at the Dubai Shopping Festival’s raffle draws finally bore fruit at the festival’s 18th edition this year when he was declared the winner in the DSF 2013 Infiniti Mega Raffle on Jan.26.

Eyad, a sales manager in an interior decoration company, has been participating in the DSF’s Mega Raffles since 1998 and could hardly believe that luck had finally smiled upon him. Yet even this time, it was touch and go. “I had bought 14 raffle tickets on different days of the DSF this year and the very last one turned out to be the winning ticket,” said Eyad.

Eyad explained, “I bought a car accessory from an ENOC petrol station in Al Quoz and then realised they had mistakenly given me one that was not suitable for my model. So I went back to exchange it. It was only while I was getting the product replaced that I decided to buy the Infiniti ticket on an impulse and thought this would be the last raffle coupon I ever bought.”

Eyad is the proud winner of two luxurious Infiniti cars — the JX 35 and the G25 — and a cash prize of Dhs100,000. He said he first got to know he had won from his friend who was watching the raffle draws on the Sama Dubai TV channel.

“My friend called me up and told me the news in the evening and I couldn’t believe my ears.

I have been participating in the DSF raffles unfailingly for the past 15 years so I am overjoyed,” Eyad said.
