Sultan opens UoS institute, attends graduation

SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS) on Saturday opened the Institute for Academic Leadership Development in Medical Education and Research at the Medical and Health Sciences College complex of UoS.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
Among the top officials who attended the function was Dr Abdullah Omran, chairman, Dar Al Khaleej.
Sheikh Sultan also attended the graduation of the first group of the 13th batch of students on UoS. At the ceremony Sheikh Sultan stressed that the economic, cultural and social development for the country is based primarily on the output of the higher education and scientific research institutions. For this reason, it was our duty to preserve the future generations through establishment of the university city in Sharjah, where the universities and research institutes were founded led by the University of Sharjah.
Sheikh Sultan then toured the halls and facilities of the Institute accompanied by Sheikh Essam Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Office, Sheikh Khalid Bin Essam Al Qasimi, Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation, and Sheikh Salem Bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Director of the Ruler’s Office.
The Institute for Academic Leadership Development in Medical Education and Research is the only one in the region, which combines developing faculty staff members of medical education and higher education and rehabilitating leading centres in universities and academic institutions.
