SHARM EL SHEIKH: Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on Friday that the UAE will provide $4 billion in aid to support Egypt.

The amount, to be deposited in the Egyptian central Bank, will fund a number of development and service projects in Egypt.

Sheikh Mohammed made the announcement during a speech he gave at the Egypt Economic Development Conference in the presence of Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi of Egypt and number of heads of states attending the conference.

Further, Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the president and people of Egypt. He noted that the UAE has provided $14 billion in aid to Egypt during the past two years. "The UAE will always remain by Egypt's side. Our support to Egypt emanates from the love we have for the Egyptian people," he added.

Sisi lauded the positions taken by the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and its political and economic support to Egypt.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE leadership’s, government’s and people's stand towards Egypt as it seeks to develop its economy and to provide prosperity to the brotherly people of Egypt.

Also in attendance were members of the delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed, as well as Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Foreign Minister Samih Shukri.
