The Emirati citizens can enter 157 countries without a visa, according to the Global Passport Index, which indicated that Singapore’s passport has ranked the first in the world, as its citizens can enter 166 countries without a visa.

The Global Passport Index accounts on the number of countries the passport holder can enter without a visa or without getting it at a country’s airport.

According to the Index, the passport of Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, South Korea and the US has been ranked the second in the world, while the passport of Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and Canada has been ranked third.

The Emirati passport has been ranked the first among the passports of the Arab region, according to the Index. It enables its holder to enter 112 countries without a visa, in addition to 45 countries where the passport holder gets the visa at the airport. As many as 41 countries require that the passport holder must get the visa before arrival.

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, tweeted that the UAE passport occupied the ninth place in the world index of powerful passports, enabling the UAE citizen to visit 157 countries without a visa in advance.

He added, “The UAE is moving rapidly towards its Vision 2021, where it launched the UAE Passport Enhancement initiative, aiming to place the UAE passport on the list of the top five passports in the world by 2021, in accordance with the directives of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

This great achievement reflects the success of UAE diplomacy during the past period in implementing the directives of the prudent leadership led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, calling for openness to all countries of the world.
