SHARJAH: After the successful completion of the Under-13 tournament, the Sharjah Cricket Council is all set to host the under-16 Inter-Academy tournament at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village and Sharjah Cricket Stadium from Feb.1-16.
The tournament, which will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis, will see 12 academies participating divided into three groups.
Each group will have four teams and every team will play the other teams in their respective groups during the weekends.
The quarter-finals will be played on Feb.9, followed by the semi-finals on Feb.15.
The final will be held on Feb.16.
SCC secretary Mazhar Khan said: “This is part of Sharjah Cricket Council’s efforts to promote cricket at the grassroot level.
“We recently saw the successful completion of the under-13 tournament.
“Providing the budding cricketers with tournaments on good grounds will help them shape as better cricketers and we will plan to have more such tournaments in the near future,” he added.
