ADEN: Brigadier General Abdou Abdullah Bamajalli, Spokesman of the Armed Forces and Consultant at the General Staff of Yemen, announced on Sunday that the Yemeni army is approaching the Directorate of Arhab and Capital Sanaa.

According to the government-run Yemeni news agency, Bamajalli confirmed that, meanwhile, battles are continuing to liberate Nahm, eastern front of Sanaa, a development preceded by liberating a series of mountains, including Dorah, Al Ayani, Al Safeh, Al Dhabeeb, Al Tibab Al Hamaraa, west of Al Garn mountain, and Al Safeenah.

He added that a number of sites located between the directorate of Nahm and Bani Hashish were liberated while great breakthroughs and advances were achieved by the national army and the popular resistance in Al Masloub directorate and the western coast front as well as other fronts of Taiz.

Separately, the Yemeni government and the World Food Programme (WFP) have discussed means of delivery of food aid to those in need throughout Yemen.

Dr Ahmed Obaid Bin Dhager, Prime Minister of Yemen, said during his meeting with Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director of the WFP, that his government is ready to provide all necessary assistance to the WFP and other international food agencies so that food and medicine can reach all citizens.

He also reiterated his government’s call for other organisations to open headquarters and run their humanitarian programmes from the provisional capital, Aden.

A couple of days ago a Yemeni minister had revealed that the Houthi militias have seized and looted more than 63 aid ships in the ports of Hodeidah, Sulaif and Aden, since September 2014 to March 2017,

“The seized ships carried humanitarian, shelter and medical assistance.”
