4 trapped motorists rescued from different incidents

DUBAI: A team of Land Rescue and Difficult Tasks of Dubai Police rescued four people trapped in vehicles due to accidents that occurred in four separate incidents during the National Union and Martyrs Day holidays.

The Head of Land Rescue Section from the Directorate of Transport and Rescue, Abdullah Ali Beshou said his team received a call on Thursday informing them of the collision of two trucks on Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway a few metres off Seih Shuaib junction. One of the drivers had been trapped for 25 minutes.

“We reached within ten minutes and disentangled him,” said Beshou, adding that the victim “sustained a gross injury.”

He said the second incident occurred on Friday evening along Sheikh Zayed Road involving four vehicles.

“One driver was trapped. We reached within five minutes and removed him. He sustained moderate injury,” he said.

On Saturday, the team rescued a man, one of three trapped in a truck that overturned along AL Maktoum International Airport Road.

“The trapped man sustained deep injury as he had his hands mutilated while the other two sustained moderate injury,” said Beshou. “It took us eight minutes to rescue him.”

On mid-day Sunday, an omnibus collided with a truck along Al Khail Road which left an omnibus driver deeply injured and had to be removed by the rescue team.
