Sultan receives Spanish archaeological delegation

SHARJAH: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah, on Wednesday morning received the delegation of the Spanish archaeological mission in Sharjah.

The meeting comes in the framework of strengthening cooperation between Sharjah and Spain in the field of monuments excavation.

Sheikh Sultan welcomed the delegation, which briefed him on the latest developments and archaeological explorations discovered by the mission recently.

The two sides also reviewed the areas of co-operation that will strengthen relations between the two countries especially in the field of archaeology.

The delegation expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to Sharjah Ruler, for his continuous support for the mission’s work. The meeting was attended by a number of officials.

Sheikh Sultan attended the activities of the 3rd Sharjah Sciences Festival at Al Zahri Hall of the University of Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan opened an exhibition held on the sidelines of the festival and listened to an explanation from some students who presented a number of scientific projects.

The festival, which was held under Sheikh Sultan patronage and organised by Sharjah Education Council in co-operation with Sharjah Education District and the University of Sharjah, saw the participation of more than 522 contestants and 322 researches in the different fields of sciences.

The festival included contests for students, researches for teachers and an exhibition for sciences on the sidelines of which a seminar was held to discuss means of developing teaching and learning methods.

Sheikh Sultan praised the efforts exerted by Sharjah Education Council for serving students and creating the convenient educational environment for them. After being briefed on the council’s activities, Sheikh Sultan instructed that a schedule should be set for fulfilling the objectives of the council as shown in its future plans.

At the end of the festival, the organising committee of the festival presented a commemorative shield to Sheikh Sultan for his continuous support for science and scientists.
