SHARJAH: Given the huge turnout of visitors to the Sharjah International Book Fair on Thursday, the organisers have decided to continue to welcome the visitors until midnight.

There is nothing better than to start the weekend with books.

The exhibition features over 1,874 publishing houses from 77 countries.

The book fair’s organisers said visitors to the event reached the 1 million mark on its seventh day.
They also highlighted a 15% rise in book sales of the participating publishers compared to last year.

Over 50,000 students visited the exhibition till Tuesday morning, according to the organisers.

Earlier in the week, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, allocated Dhs4.5 million to purchase the latest publications of the participating publishers at the 37th Sharjah International book Fair (SIBF 2018).

The gesture is a continuation of Sheikh Sultan’s constant approach to support the book industry and publication houses with the aim of providing the Emirate of Sharjah’s public and government libraries with the latest Arabic and international intellectual, literary and scientific publications.
