Sharjah: With many cars being stolen in Sharjah, police in the emirate have launched a new campaign that aims at curbing the negative phenomenon of such robberies. They are also educating motorists on safety methods that should be adopted to prevent their cars from getting stolen.

The campaign launched by the media section of Sharjah Police is titled “Safety and Security,” with the aim of ensuring a safer emirate.

Arif Bin Husain, director of media and public relations of Sharjah Police, said that the campaign will be held for four weeks and will feature distribution of awareness pamphlets in Arabic, English and Urdu.

“The pamphlets will offer guidelines to motorists and warn them of the reckless attitude adopted by many motorists who leave the ignition of their cars on before leaving them, only to discover on their return that the vehicles were robbed. They should not park their cars in dark or deserted areas and should not place valuables in their cars such as mobile phones, money or gold.”
