Ajman, Bangladesh to accelerate trade, investment cooperation

Abdullah Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) received Mohammed Iqbal Hussain, Consul General of the People›s Republic of Bangladesh, to explore new paths of further accelerating the cooperation and the investment opportunities between the two parties. The meeting also aimed to strengthen the rapports between the businessmen and to increase the participation in the specialised exhibitions and events so that the trade between the two parties will increase.

The meeting was attended by Salem Al Suwaidi, Director General of ACCI, Naser Al Dhafri, Executive Director of Planning and Members Support and Marawn Hareb, Director of Business Promotion and Investment Development.

During the meeting, Al Muwaiji praised the strong relations between the two countries, emphasising the diversity of investment opportunities through which the bilateral relations between the UAE and Bangladesh in general and the emirate of Ajman and Bangladesh in particular can be increased.

He highlighted the most important opportunities and economic components in the emirate of Ajman, praising the guidance of the prudent leadership to all economic stakeholders on the need to ensure the facilitation and flexibility in the business community in the emirate. He further noted that the number of enterprises of Bangladeshi businessmen in the emirate reached about 7,000 enterprises. The Metal products are the main products exported from Ajman to Bangladesh followed by shoes, oils and lubricants, he added.

For his part, Mohammed Iqbal Hussain thanked the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the warm reception, stressing the need to hold bilateral meetings between the businessmen of the two parties to explore the most important investment opportunities. He also briefed the attendees on the diversity of the economy in the People›s Republic of Bangladesh and the investment opportunities available in the country.

The meeting also stressed the need to participate in the specialized exhibitions organised by the two parties.

They also discussed the ways to enhance the cooperation and investment opportunities in the education sector, especially in light of the growing number of the Bangladeshi community in the country through the Ajman International Education and Training Exhibition (AETEX). The exhibition provides the opportunity for direct meeting between universities in the UAE and Bangladesh.

At the end of the meeting, Abdullah Al-Muwaiji and Mohammed Iqbal Hussain, exchanged shields and souvenirs. Earlier, the Ajman Chamber conducted 15 field visits to its members of companies and factories during the first quarter of this year. The visits aimed at enhancing the direct communication with the members to come up with important proposals and recommendations that contribute to developing the services offered to the economic sector in the emirate.

Mohammed Khalifa Al Muhairi, head of the Support Department at Ajman Chamber, stressed the importance of field visits as a direct communication platform that strengthens the relationship between the Chamber and its members. The visits sought to identify aspirations of the business community and the most important needs and challenges, as well as the proposals and creative ideas that serve the business sector. This by turn supports sustainability and development of all establishments and serves Ajman Vision 2021, he added.

The ACCI aims to implement a comprehensive plan to visit all economic sectors and to identify the most important services customized to traders and businessmen. Through these visits, the Chamber further seeks to promote the exhibitions and events organised by it, in addition to the others in which it participates locally and internationally.

Al-Muhairi appreciated the keenness of the Board of Directors of Ajman Chamber to increase direct meetings and field visits to members of the Chamber to learn about the latest developments in the economic sector.

In the meantime, Abdullah Abdulmohsen Al Nuaimi, Head of Quality Services, said that the Ajman Chamber serves as a link between its members and government department through the field visits. He affirmed importance of those visits to identify many of the challenges facing businessmen and finding solutions to them through the coordination with the concerned parties.

He added that the Ajman Chamber through the visits introduces the most important services provided for the business community, as well as the working groups of factories, tourism, young entrepreneurs, malls, law offices, private education, health sector, banking sector, banks, real estate, contracting, engineering consultancy.

Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry was incorporated under an Ameri Decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Hmaid Bin Rashid Al Nu’aimi in 1977, stipulating that the chamber of commerce and industry shall be a legal entity with an independent financial status practicing such authorities and powers invested to it under the provisions of the law applicable in Ajman Emirate, and that it shall have full competence to achieve its objectives.
