Abu Dhabi Department of Energy to exhibit in Dubai’s Green Week

The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) is preparing to take part in Dubai’s ‘Green Week’ event next week, as it also joins the 21st edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) as a ‘Diamond Sponsor’.

This participation coincides with the DoE’s involvement in the Dubai Solar Show and World Green Economy Summit (WGES).

DoE will occupy stand number DSP-07 in Hall 2 of the Dubai International Convention Centre, where, under the slogan, ‘Towards a New Energy Era’, it is set to showcase the transformation of the Abu Dhabi energy sector, as well as the DoE’s plans to ensure greater efficiency, sustainability, and eco-friendliness. The DoE will be equipping its pavilion with advanced technologies capable of introducing visitors to the sector’s history and origins, as well as future scenarios predicted by the Abu Dhabi Integrated Energy Model.

 The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy will also showcase the emirate’s experience and achievements in the energy sector as it takes part in a series of panel discussions during the week’s activities, discussing various approaches to accelerate the adoption of solar energy technologies, and stressing the importance of partnership between the public and private sectors for the future of renewable energy.

Furthermore, DoE Chairman Eng. Awaidha Murshed Al Marar will be delivering the keynote address at the World Green Economy Summit.

 Al Marar reiterated the DoE’s commitment to supporting and sponsoring international events focusing on the energy, environment, and sustainability sectors, which are organised and hosted in the UAE. These events play a significant role in establishing the UAE as a global hub for the sector, offering a platform for showcasing ground-breaking experiences and accomplishments from various local energy stakeholders, he explained.

“The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy plays a crucial role in spearheading the energy sector transition in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, ensuring security of supply, boosting economic and social development, and achieving sustainability,” Al Marar added. “We are committed to working and coordinating with various stakeholders in the UAE and the world to empower the sector to achieve its strategic objectives, and to introduce prominent international organisations to the lucrative investment opportunities the Abu Dhabi energy sector has to offer.”

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Founder and Chairman of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex), announced that 2,350 exhibitors from 55 countries will take part in the 21st Wetex under the theme ‘At the Forefront of Sustainability’ and the 4th Dubai Solar Show.

Al Tayer made the announcement during a press conference held at the Armani Hotel in Dubai. Members of the organising committee, a number of strategic partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and the media were present.

“Organising Wetex and the Dubai Solar Show, under the umbrella of Green Week, are aligned with UAE’s wise leadership‘s vision to promote sustainable development and a green economy in the UAE, and help realise the UAE Centennial 2071, the UAE Vision 2021, the UAE Green Growth Strategy, the Dubai Plan 2021, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to make the Emirate a global hub for clean energy and green economy and provide 75% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy sources by 2050,” said Al Tayer in his speech.

“Over 20 years, Wetex has established itself as one of the largest and most important international specialised exhibitions, and the largest of its kind in the region.  It has become an ideal platform for companies, organisations, experts, manufacturers and investors to learn about the latest developments and global technologies related to water, the environment, oil and gas, conventional and renewable energy and related industries.

The Dubai Solar Show also achieved remarkable success over last three years, especially as the region’s solar power sector has accelerated its growth.

The exhibition is an important platform for the government and private sectors to make deals, build partnerships, learn about the latest solar energy technologies, identify market needs and opportunities to participate in solar power projects and programmes as the UAE and the region strive to increase the share of renewable and clean energy,” added Al Tayer.
