The 5th edition of Sharjah FDI Forum which will be held on November 11 – 12, 2019, will host a roundtable for the Dubai Financial Market to discuss IPOs and Opportunities in Capital Markets. The forum will also hold five workshops on the sidelines of the event that will be held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC) in Sharjah.
Approximately 1,500 regional and global leaders in business and economy, will take part in the fifth edition of the Sharjah FDI Forum, being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It will host 54 speakers in 12 sessions. The two-day event which will run under the theme ‘Future Trends in Foreign Direct Investment’, is being organised by the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), an affiliate of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
The workshops scheduled on the first day include a Youth Circle - a Federal Youth Authority initiative – which will hold a discussion titled ‘The Future of Youth in the Era of Digital Enterprise’. It will see the participation of Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman of Shurooq; Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City (Shams); Hussain Mohammed Al Mahmoudi, CEO Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park; and Mo Gawdat, Bestselling author and former Chief Business Officer of Google X.
Scheduled to make his debut at the Sharjah FDI Forum, bestselling author and former Chief Business Officer of Google X, Mo Gawdat, is scheduled to deliver visitors a special signing ceremony for his famous book “Solve for Happy”, at the (Invest in Sharjah) stand during the first day of the forum.
The Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department will hold a workshop titled ‘Investing in Sharjah Real Estate Projects’, which will host Obaid Abdelrahman Al Madhlom Al Suwaidi, Director of Real Estate Entrepreneurship; and Abdalla Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Director of Real Estate Transactions Management.
A workshop titled ‘The Role of Government in Supporting Entrepreneurs’ will be hosted by The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation, ‘Ruwad’.
On the second and final day of the forum, WAVTEQ will host a workshop titled ‘The Future of FDI’, followed by an interactive session titled ‘Women in Business’. In the WAVTEQ workshop, preeminent global expert on FDI, Dr. Henry Loewendahl, Founder and CEO of WAVTEQ, will provide the latest evidence on global and regional FDI trends. It will examine how the world of FDI is changing and how economic development organisations are adapting their strategies and techniques to attract FDI.
The Dubai Financial Market IPO Roundtable will be held on the second day. IPO experts will provide practical guidance on the key stages of going public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), right from the company valuation and readiness, investor targeting, company prospectus and IPO subscription to developing the equity investment story. Saeed Mansoor Al Awar, Co-head in the Middle East, Rothschild & Co.; Mohammed Fahmi, Co-Head of investment banking at EFG Hermes; and Ahmed Ibrahim, Partner at Matouk Bassiouny & Ibrahim Law Firm.
The 5th Sharjah FDI Forum will highlight FDI trends at regional and international levels, and shine light on vital sectors in need of more investments, such as renewable energy, healthcare, and technology. The forum will also discuss the potential impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution on the growth rate of world economies, sustainability and social stability.
Dr. Louis Klein, Dean, European School of Governance, is also scheduled to present his special session during day two of the forum titled “Future and Foresight Presentation: How to Approach the Future – Scenarios for Business and Society”.
On the sidelines of the final day of the forum, a roundtable held by Dubai Financial Market will focus on IPOs and opportunities in capital markets will see the participation of Saeed Mansoor Al Awar, Co-head in the Middle East, Rothschild & Co.; Mohamed Ebeid, Co-chief Executive of investment banking at EFG Hermes; Ahmed Ibrahim, Partner at Matouk Bassiouny & Ibrahim Law Firm. The second day will also feature two workshops which are: ‘The Future of FDI’ organised by WAVTEQ and presented by Dr. Henry Loewendahl, Founder and CEO of WAVTEQ; and a special interactive workshop on ‘Women in Business’.
