Arada has launched Naseej District, an upscale neighbourhood that celebrates art, design and culture at the Dhs24 billion megaproject in the heart of New Sharjah.
Naseej, which means fabric, reflects the developer’s aspiration to weave together diverse skills, talents and backgrounds to turn the cultural district into a coherent social space for the creative community in Sharjah.
Containing 16 apartment buildings designed in a contemporary style and accompanied by anchor cultural attractions, Naseej District will also be bolstered by a range of creative events that will encourage both residents and visitors to collaborate and learn.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Arada, said, “The introduction of Naseej District is another step in Sharjah’s journey to embrace art and culture as a way of living. We are working to curate a thriving community that will house some of the region’s finest creative talent, while also becoming a destination for those who seek authentic and engaging cultural activities.”
Today also marks the launch of Tiraz, the first residential building to go on sale at Naseej District. Featuring a range of studios, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments, the Tiraz buildings contain 128 units in total, which overlook open courtyards and garden spaces.
Both Tiraz residents and visitors to Naseej District, as well as art enthusiasts from around the UAE, will also enjoy an array of high-quality cultural, artistic and retail destinations right on their doorstep. At one end of the district is an iconic and beautifully designed building that will incorporate galleries, a museum and exhibition space. An architectural statement in itself, this showpiece building will be a focal point for learning, with permanent exhibits focusing on topics such as Sharjah’s growth story and climate change.
Construction on Naseej District will start in the second quarter of 2021, and the first homes will be delivered in the first quarter of 2023.
Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, CEO of Arada, said: “We are immensely proud to launch Naseej District, a progressive community to further strengthen the art and culture space Sharjah is known for. We are looking forward to tie-up our in-house creative talent with local and international cultural institutions to co-curate art and culture programming at Naseej District.”
“The launch comes shortly after the successful sales launch of Vida Residences Aljada, which we launched in partnership with Emaar Hospitality Group in November and has received an overwhelming response.”
Also located within the neighbourhood is the Vida Aljada complex, part of Arada’s partnership with Emaar Hospitality Group, which includes a hotel, branded residences and a range of exciting dining and retail options. Featuring minimalist and contemporary design, Vida Aljada hosts high-end facilities and exemplary services. Linking these two locations is a bustling piazza, a wide pedestrianised street that includes smaller shops, cafes, bookstores, fashion outlets and outdoor kiosks.
Residents and visitors will also be able to enjoy a truly immersive cultural atmosphere at Naseej District, thanks to a year-round programme of events and activations, including outdoor and indoor art installations and exhibitions, events dedicated to the creative industries including an annual design week, and monthly meet-ups for children.
The Aljada Creative District is ideally located in the heart of the megaproject, within a few minutes’ walk from family entertainment destination Madar, and adjacent to the fast-growing Sharjah Research Technology and Information Park. The district is also a 10-minute walk away from University City, one of the largest higher education complexes in the region.
Spread over a 24 million square foot area, Aljada is Sharjah’s largest ever project and a transformational destination for the Emirate. Aljada contains numerous residential districts, as well as extensive retail, hospitality, entertainment, sporting, educational and healthcare components, all set within a green urban master plan.
Madar at Aljada, a new family entertainment destination designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, was the first part of the megaproject to be completed in February this year and has already welcomed over 700,000 visitors. The first homes in Aljada are scheduled to be handed over before the end of this year.
