Sharjah reviews performance report on budget, Q1 activities

Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, chaired an ordinary meeting of the council at the Sharjah Ruler’s office on Tuesday. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the council also graced the meeting.

The council discussed various government issues that contribute to developing services and providing a decent life for citizens and residents of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The meeting reviewed the report on the performance of the general budget and the outputs of activities for the first quarter of 2021, submitted by the Central Finance Department (CFD). The review is intended to follow up the performance of the general budget and to develop and improve its outputs.

The report included the graphic indicators of the general budget and tables comparing revenues and expenditures for the first quarter of 2021 for government agencies and independent bodies in the emirate.

The report also included actual spending ratios for each of the sectors of social development, government administration, infrastructure and economic development.

The council approved a set of proposals by the Sharjah Health Authority related to the operational aspects and services that may support the city as a leading destination in healthcare, as well as developing modern medical research.

The council also reviewed the report submitted by the Sharjah General Directorate of Civil Defence on the procedures and controls for installing fire detection systems in residential flats in the emirate. The report also included a detailed explanation of the modern systems used in fire detection, which provide the highest levels of safety and achieve a better response time to save lives and property.

The report, moreover, included the most prominent global leading practices in the field of smoke detection systems and their adopted mechanisms, in addition to graphic indicators on the rates of fire accidents during the past years, their response time, and mortality and damage rates.

The council commended the role of the Sharjah General Directorate of Civil Defence in using advanced modern systems and practices, which are reflected on the safety of residents, while directing more awareness campaigns for various segments of society.

SCCI, Sharjah Police: The Representative Committee of the Real Estate Sector Business Group of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) organised, in collaboration with Sharjah Police General Command, a coordination meeting with representatives of the concerned government bodies and departments in the emirate and real estate owners.

The meeting discusses challenges and negative phenomena and their impact on the community security, develop future visions and launch joint programs to curb them, consolidate fruitful cooperation in various joint security fields, and support efforts being made to achieve security across the emirate.

The meeting was attended by Obaid Awad Obaid Al Tunaiji, member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber, Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the Sharjah Chamber,  Brigadier General Ibrahim Musabah Al-Ajeel, Deputy Director-General of Police Operations at Sharjah Police, Colonel Yousef Obaid Harmoul, Director of the Comprehensive Police Stations Department at Sharjah Police, and Lt. Colonel Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the Community Police Department at Sharjah Police.

In addition to discussing the most prominent security challenges in some residential and industrial areas in the Emirate of Sharjah, the meeting included a brainstorming session that came up with a number of recommendations to curb such challenges. This includes the importance of permanent coordination between Sharjah Police and partners to define their roles and responsibilities, the need to reorganize real estate, whether commercial or residential, monitoring of violations, fostering the role of qualified real estate offices in the management of the real estate, and updating databases of apartment and housing owners.

Commending the painstaking efforts of Sharjah Police to ensure security stability as an essential element and a catalyst for economic prosperity and sustainable development, Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi underlined the SCCI’s keenness, in cooperation with the Representative Committee of the Real Estate Sector Business Group, to provide all the necessary support to the initiatives that can help come up with radical solutions to all security challenges, as well as to provide assistance to real estate owners, whether through implementation or providing care and financial support, to ensure their interaction with any decisions or recommendations.   

For his part, Ibrahim Musabah Al-Ajeel praised the productive cooperation between the Sharjah Police and the Sharjah Chamber to promote the security and economic work system in the Emirate of Sharjah, thanking the permanent cooperation of all governmental and private institutions for their efforts and cooperation with the Sharjah Police to reinforce the indicators of outstanding performance, which reflected in the high percentage achieved by the Emirate of Sharjah in terms of the feeling of safety index reaching 92.2%.
