The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dubai Chamber) has joined Digital Dubai’s Government Resource Planning Systems (GRPS), which is already implemented across 70 government departments benefitting more than 73,000 employees in the emirate.
GRPS offers an integrated bundle of secure, standardised, central solutions, and - as of July 1st - Dubai Chamber officials and employees have access to more than 40 smart systems and applications. This, in turn, will serve to boost productivity and efficiency at the chamber by streamlining operations, cutting costs, and saving time.
The systems allow participating entities to handle all key internal government operations in the financial, logistics and human resources fields, including salaries, recruitment, financial transactions, supply chain, and asset management.
“The Government Resource Planning Systems is a vital tool in our arsenal and one on which we rely to fulfil our mission of driving Dubai’s digital and smart transformation,” asserted Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai Authority. “The advanced systems allow participating government entities to streamline and automate their procedures, boosting their effectiveness, their competitiveness and their attractiveness to customers, whether individuals or businesses. The systems also make tasks to be handled more easily and efficiently for tens of thousands of employees.”
“Dubai Chamber plays has an instrumental role to play in advancing the business community in Dubai and enhancing the emirate’s status as a hub for business, investment and entrepreneurship,” H.E. Al Mansoori added. “With this in mind, it was extremely important for us to bring the chamber on board in implementing GRPS, which will impact not only its operations, but also those of its members, ultimately benefitting the emirate’s economy as a whole. We look forward to adding more entities to the list and continuing our efforts to boost government integration and digitalisation in Dubai.”
Hamad Buamim, President & CEO of Dubai Chamber, said: “We are proud to join the GRPS - a state-of-the-art system that has made the Chamber’s operations more efficient and improved its capabilities and services to the business community. The Chamber has been a pioneer in fully integrating all of its financial services into the system in cooperation with Emirates NBD and ADCB, which has made our transactions with suppliers and employees seamless.”
Buamim said the Chamber managed to transition to the GRPS system within 6 months, which he described as a milestone achievement, given the huge amount of time and resources required by the project.
Implementing GRPS allows Dubai Chamber to fulfil its role in supporting Dubai’s business community by automating key transactions and processes, such as supply chain management and inventory. This ultimately enhances the emirate’s competitiveness in ease of doing business, thereby further establishing it as a foremost hub for international business and trade and attracting more companies and investments to set up shop in Dubai.
GRPS allows Dubai Chamber’ employees to access the Smart Employee application and its array of human resources services. More than 66 ,000 employees from 60 government bodies benefit from the newly revamped Smart Employee application, which allows users to access many employee self-services and purchasing requests at any time and from anywhere. The application also helps managers oversee team members and monitor their office attendance to streamline procedures, as well as enables them to approve leave requests, give other permissions, and make purchase orders.
Suppliers dealing with Dubai Chamber can benefit from the Smart Supplier application to easily process transactions and access various new features and services that are constantly updated. The integration within GRPS allows the chamber to access a wide base of suppliers registered in the system, and enjoy an improved procurement process where purchase orders are automated.
Established in 1965, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a non-profit public entity, whose mission is to represent, support and protect the interests of the business community in Dubai by creating a favourable business environment, supporting the development of business, and by promoting Dubai as an international business hub.
Dubai Chamber will have access to more than 40 advanced applications and features that automate work, including Smart Supplier and Smart Employee.
