Sharjah Airport won the ‘Gold Award’ in Government Website Category from the Global Excellence (GX) annual award, which recognises the best in digital practices according to the highest international standards.
Sharjah Airport won the award besting more 100 nominees from all over the world, as the airport’s website was distinguished in several criteria that included experience and user interface, design, content, innovation, implementation, public participation, and value-added functions and features.
In line with Sharjah’s smart transformation plan, and in implementation of the national government’s directives on the need to enhance digital services and facilitate procedures for customers, Sharjah Airport Authority is constantly working on employing the latest technological developments in the aviation and travel industries to provide travellers better services and ensure they have a safe and pleasurable experience at the airport.
The Sharjah Airport was designed to ensure easy browsing and access to information for travellers with the least possible time and effort. Easy on the eyes, it also ensures safety and security where information and data protection is concerned, and ensures that it provides comprehensive information about flights and the latest alerts, as well as a thorough knowledge of all services and procedures.
Sharjah Airport recorded strong performance despite the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic by adding new destinations and attracting more airlines in the first half of 2021.
Thanks to its efforts in providing a safe travel experience and offering world-class services for travellers, Sharjah Airport Authority has been awarded the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) certification by the Airports Council International. Sharjah International Airport is the first in the UAE – and seventh in the Middle East -- to receive this international accreditation, in recognition of its efforts to provide a safe travel experience during the ongoing pandemic.
