Cisco, the Official Digital Network Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai has unveiled The Cisco Grove - an immersive environment designed to demonstrate how intelligent networks can enable new possibilities for a sustainable, inclusive future.
Located at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Partner Hub, Cisco’s digitally powered environment takes inspiration from natural groves and their intelligent underground systems. Aligned with Expo 2020’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, The Cisco Grove illustrates how smart, intuitive networks can create greater connectivity, forge opportunity and power an inclusive future for all.
Cisco shares the vision of Expo 2020 Dubai to deliver the most digitally connected and immersive event in World Expo history. Cisco technologies and innovations help power digital experiences throughout the Expo site. Various Cisco teams have spent already more than 2.5 million hours supporting technology rollout at the Expo 2020 Dubai site across 30 technology areas.
“Working in close collaboration with Cisco since 2018, we have witnessed the transformative nature of digital technologies firsthand. We are proud of the experiences on offer at Expo 2020 Dubai today and believe that visitors to The Cisco Grove will also share in our enthusiasm for building a future which is both green and digital,” said Mohammad Alhashmi, Chief Technology Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai.
At The Cisco Grove, invited guests can explore the ‘Universe of Data’ - a state-of-the-art projection and hologram-based experience. They can select one of three interactive experiences and engage with the network to learn more about: The City of Tomorrow - A look at how smart cities can deploy digital technologies to connect, protect and enhance the lives of citizens. Use cases on show include solutions for government, transport and logistics, and smart buildings.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - The experience showcases how Cisco applies AI and ML to solve real world problems, such as identifying and defending against cyberthreats, building autonomous networks that heal themselves and developing smart collaboration solutions for the future of hybrid work.
The Multicloud Universe - Symbolizing the wealth of connected data moving through space, where the right cloud strategy can connect any device to any application and any cloud, securely. “Our digital future requires the use of intelligent networks which constantly learn, adapt and protect. This is exactly why Cisco’s technology was selected as the foundation for secure connectivity at Expo 2020 Dubai. We look forward to welcoming our partners and customers to Expo and to The Cisco Grove, demonstrating how our network can bring human and digital connections to life,” said Shukri Eid, Managing Director, Cisco Gulf Region.
Alongside the ‘Universe of Data’ experience, visitors can also meet with Cisco’s experts to discuss the latest digitization trends and join in the company’s green efforts.
“Digital technologies are the key driver to achieving social and economic good and powering an inclusive future for all. At The Cisco Grove, we’re excited to showcase the very best of this promise in action. We seek to be a true partner of progress, and Expo 2020 Dubai serves as the ideal platform from which to create new dialogues, collaborate and forge a better future,” said Reem Asaad, Vice President, Cisco Middle East and Africa.

Offsetting the carbon footprint: Applying innovation and entrepreneurship to the service of sustainability is one of the objectives that the ISA Group has set for itself in its 2030 strategy, and it is an example of what it is taking to Expo Dubai 2020 to represent the country. On this stage, the company will show the world its leadership in the Latin American energy sector and its role in the energy transition. It will also present its cutting-edge initiatives in sustainable development, with which it is making a tangible and relevant contribution to major causes of global interest, such as climate change mitigation and the construction of social fabric. In line with its commitment to protect the planet, and as an example for other companies, the company, in alliance with Ecopetrol, will offset the carbon footprint of the entire Colombia Pavilion during the week of October 3-9, in order to become Net Zero Carbon. This will be registered through EcoRegistry, the carbon market platform based on blockchain technology developed by XM, an affiliate of Grupo ISA in Colombia, which allows the issuance, transfer, and retirement of carbon credits.
The resources obtained through this compensation will be invested in the conservation project, Cocoman Frontera Redd+, which works to prevent the deforestation of the forests of the Higher Community Councils of Novita, located in the department of Chocó in Colombia, one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. The activities developed with this funding are: support for forest ranger families, promotion of productive alternatives to logging, environmental education, conservation of native species and seedling trees, among other activities of great importance to protect this important green lung.
Another of the global impact projects with which Grupo ISA will be presenting at Expo Dubai 2021 is Conexión Jaguar, the sustainability program with which, together with its technical partners, South Pole and Panthera, contributes to the conservation of biodiversity, climate change mitigation, the development of rural communities and the connectivity of the jaguar’s natural habitats in Latin America. In addition, the group will be part of the academic agenda sharing best practices to protect the climate and biodiversity, making known the scope of Ecogox and EcoRegistry tools that were developed in Colombia, with a high innovative component and impact on climate change mitigation.
ISA Group, as a multi-Latin company, will also have the opportunity to promote the approach of the country and the region to the Vision 2030 agenda of the United Arab Emirates, a project that, within its roadmap, seeks to develop sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and clean technologies, mitigating the risks of exclusive dependence on oil.
“We know that the only way to protect the planet and leave a world for new generations is by working as a team and inspiring others. Expo Dubai 2020 is a platform that will allow us to build alliances, learn from other visions, share our experience and bring best practices to Latin America,” said Juliana Suso Jaramillo, Chief Institutional Relations Officer for ISA Group.
