Dubai: Under the patronage of Sheikh Hashir Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director general of Dubai Department of Information, Batti Saeed Al Ghamdi, Vice President of The Dubai World Trade Centre, inaugurated the 15th edition of “Arab Plast”, the largest exhibition of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa.
The exhibition, in its 15th edition, attracted hundreds of local, Arab and international participations, especially since it is held after the COVID-19 pandemic and its heavy economic and health effects on various sectors, where the number of visitors on the first day of the opening reached 6,000 thousand visitors; the exhibition is expected to attract more than 18,000 visitors in its four days.
More than 200 leading international companies in the plastics and petrochemical sector from 30 countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Italy, India, Austria, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are participating in this year’s edition, and it is remarkable to have more than 40 local companies participating this year, most notably Boruge and Astra Polymers, as well as the participation of major Saudi companies specialised in the plastics and petrochemical sectors in the exhibition such as the leading manufacturing company, Tasnea, and OQ, Omani company and principle sponsor of the show.
On the sidelines of their participation in the exhibition, Khaled Khalifa Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Eco Polymers in the UAE, said, “Our Company was established in 2008 and we succeeded in obtaining an international agency for a special material from Britain, transforming plastic products into environmentally friendly products, and we have developed remarkably during the previous years.” And we succeeded in exporting our exclusive environmentally friendly material to several countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen and others. He further added, the plastic sector has proven its importance, especially during the Corona pandemic.”
