His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, toured the pavilions of South Korea and Brazil at Expo 2020 Dubai as part of a series of visits to country pavilions to explore the innovations and ideas being showcased at the mega event.
During his visit to the South Korean pavilion, located at the Mobility District, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the pavilion’s unique structure and design. Spanning 4,650 square metres, the pavilion is among the largest in size at the Expo 2020 Dubai site and features a dynamic façade that constantly changes throughout the day based on its surroundings.
Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on the various features of the pavilion, which showcases the use of advanced mobility solutions. Under the theme ‘Smart Korea, Moving the World to You’, the pavilion uses giant displays that offer an interactive experience that blends the real and virtual environments.
During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed about the diverse products and cultural programmes featured at the pavilion that shed light on different aspects of the South Korean civilisation as well as the country’s customs and traditions.
Another stop during Sheikh Mohammed’s tour was the Brazilian pavilion, which is located at the Sustainability District. Under the theme ‘Together for Sustainable Development’, the pavilion highlights Brazil’s natural ecosystem as well as the national programmes launched in the country to preserve the environment and address climate change.
During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about the various components of the pavilion, which recreates the sights, sounds and aromas of the Amazon basin. The pavilion allows visitors to take a closer look at Brazil’s biodiversity and rich culture.
At the end of his tour, Sheikh Mohammed expressed his appreciation for the efforts being made globally to enhance sustainable development, preserve natural resources and adopt technological solutions to combat the most pressing challenges facing humanity.
Sheikh Mohammed added that the mega event offers a platform to explore new collaborations that can help create a better future for the world.
Meanwhile Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, met with Timothy Masiu, Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Papua New Guinea, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, especially economic and trade, and strengthening friendship and cooperation ties in all domains.
Al Sayegh expressed his pleasure with the participation of many friendly countries including Papua New Guinea in Expo 2020 Dubai despite the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. He had the opportunity to visit its pavilion. He also stressed the strength of both countries ties and the existence of many mutual opportunities of common interest.
The UAE Minister also expressed his gratitude to Papua New Guinea for supporting the UAE’s candidacy to host the 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP28), emphasising the country’s eagerness to convey the voices of all nations to ensure a reduction of global warming effects and build a better life for future generations.
Masiu, in turn, expressed his admiration for the excellent organisation of the Expo 2020 Dubai by the UAE. He also highlighted the great cooperation opportunities to develop and push them forward across all fields for the benefit of both countries.
Al Sayegh welcomed the expected visit of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea in February 2022 to attend his country’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Meanwhile Ahmed Hatem Al Menhali, UAE Ambassador to Mexico and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of El Salvador, has met with Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of El Salvador, and discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in addition to a number of issues of common interest.
The meeting touched on issues included in the bilateral agenda in light of the minister’s scheduled participation in the 12th session of the IRENA Assembly and the scheduled visit of President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, to participate in his country’s National Day celebrations as part of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Al Menhali highlighted the wise leadership’s keenness to extend bridges of cooperation with the countries of the world, and to consolidate the UAE’s position globally by spreading its lofty humanitarian message and promoting its stature as a global capital for tolerance, coexistence and human brotherhood.
For her part, Tinoco expressed optimism that her visit and the visit of President Bukele will bring opportunities to further boost the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the UAE and the Republic of El Salvador.
