The Expo 2020 Dubai’s positive effect is not just confined to hotels near the Expo 2020 site but other properties mainly located on Yas Island Abu Dhabi and particularly Al Raha Beach Hotel had a good business from individual guests and groups, who visited the region’s first mega event.
This was revealed by Kamal Zayati, General Manager of Al Raha Beach Hotel, during an exclusive interview with Gulf Today, adding that they are extremely pleased that the country has just made it simpler for eager travellers from around the world to visit Abu Dhabi and his property.

“We are seeing steady positive impact on occupancy levels. Our property will continue to support the ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable recovery while maintaining public health and safety across our various activities at the resort.” Zayati added.
He noted that despite a turbulent year his property however has managed to record one of the highest occupancy rates in Abu Dhabi, adding that Al Raha Beach Hotel’s popularity as a staycation destination has been key in supporting the business in 2021.
“We forecast further growth in 2022 as a result of fewer travel restrictions, which will result in an increase in regional and domestic demand. In line with the prevailing positive market trends, we expect the continuation of the business recovery with an average occupancy to be around 75 per cent by end of 2022 and achieve our target RGI above our COMP Set.”
Zayati echoed that Europe mainly Germany and UK have been the dominating foreign feeder markets for visitor arrivals to his property. However, the domestic market continues to be a major driver in 2022 and beyond. Events held in Abu Dhabi during the winter—such as Abu Dhabi Grand Prix — F1 Race and ADIPEC Exhibition — will likely bolster demand, we are also developing new offerings, including “Al Raha Stays” staycation offers, wellness programs and long-term stay packages.
