His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday toured Gitex Global 2022, the world’s largest technology show being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
He was accompanied by Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council; Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and a number of senior officials of Dubai government entities.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid said organising the world’s largest technology show in Dubai reflects the UAE’s emerging role in shaping the world’s future and generating new opportunities for advancing sustainable development in both the region and across the world.

The 42nd edition of Gitex Global has brought together 5,000 leading technology companies from more than 90 countries at the DWTC. The event, being held from 10-14 October 2022, is set to bring together more than 100,000 attendees from 170 countries.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid visited the pavilions of a number of companies at Gitex Global where he was briefed about the cutting-edge technology solutions and digital products displayed at the event. At the Microsoft stand, His Highness was introduced to a new product that utilises the company’s advanced metaverse and AI capabilities to create a unique experience of Dubai attractions for tourists. He also visited the Cisco stand where he was briefed on the company’s products and solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency and drive the circular economy. At the Huawei stand, which represents its largest-ever participation in the technology show, His Highness viewed the company’s metaverse, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions and applications. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid also visited e&’s stand where he was given a glimpse into the future of mobility as demonstrated by a fully autonomous electric vehicle developed through a collaboration between Cadillac Arabia and e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group).
Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Deputy National Security Adviser, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, also visited Gitex Global 2022 on Tuesday.
During the visit, Sheikh Khaled toured the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion and reviewed initiatives including the updated TAMM platform and app, the Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority’s new AI-based internal audit platform, and the Smart Transport project, launched by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) under the Department of Municipalities and Transport.
In addition, he visited the Ajman Government pavilion, where he was briefed on the government’s smart business feasibility system, and Saudi Arabia’s Advanced Electronics Company, where he reviewed its advanced digital cybersecurity system. He also visited the Du and Etisalat stands.
Sheikh Khaled was accompanied by Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Government Support; Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development; and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid Al Askar, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority.
The 2022 edition of the global technology event, which is being held over five days between 10th and 14th October at the Dubai World Trade Centre, sees Abu Dhabi Government participate for the 11th time, with more than 30 government and academic entities showcasing around 100 initiatives and innovative digital products.
Abu Dhabi Government’s participation comes under the supervision of the Higher Committee of Digital Government, and is in line with the emirate’s efforts to implement a digital governance framework and effortless government services as part of Abu Dhabi’s ongoing transition towards a digital future.
Ali Rashid Al Ketbi said, “GITEX Global 2022 is one of the biggest technology events to showcase the latest innovations and technology. It is an important platform to showcase the achievements of the government’s digital transformation in Abu Dhabi, which comes as a manifestation of the vision of the UAE leadership, which places innovation and digital transformation at the forefront of its priorities to meet the needs of society.”
