Hundreds of investors and business leaders have confirmed their attendance for the Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF) commencing on Wednesday to discuss current market shifts and developments impacting the global investment landscape.
The two-day event, hosted by the Sharjah FDI Office and held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre, will bring together 1,600 participants, in addition to 50 local, Arab and international economic experts and decision-makers as well as C-suite executives of various investment companies and start-ups. The SIF 2023 will kick off with a keynote speech from Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, offering insights into the current state of economy and the government’s plans for sustainable economic growth.
The theme of the 6th edition of the SIF, “Redefining Economies: Making Significant Strides for a Better Future,” aligns with the UAE’s aspirations and vision for sustainable development through diversifying income sources and enhancing key economic sectors. The event is directed towards the country’s long-term plans to shape a new viable landscape, by investing heavily on diversifying sources of income and enhancing various vital economic sectors. Among the prominent speakers are Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development in Hong Kong, and Cheung Kwok-kwan, SBS, JP Deputy Secretary for Justice, who will extend a comprehensive overview of the strategies chalked out and applied by Hong Kong to attract foreign investment and boost economic growth.
The distinguished guest speakers’ list also include two of the world’s most-recognised business leaders best known as “sharks” on the ABC’s hit TV show “Shark Tank”. American billionaire Daymond John, former Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship during the term of former US President Barack Obama, and Canadian businessman Robert Herjavek, Cybersecurity Advisor for the Government of Canada and member of the US Chamber of Commerce Task Force for Cybersecurity, will share their entrepreneurial experiences and insights into how they reached the pinnacle of success in leading and establishing major international ventures.
Focusing on key economic issues and futuristic strategic visions, SIF 2023 will feature local officials, including Omar Swaina Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of the Commercial Affairs Department at the Sharjah Economic Development Department, Maryam bin Al Sheikh, Director of the Sharjah Business Women Council, and Haleema Al Owais, Member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who will discuss prospects for a green and sustainable economy, the future of the virtual economy, and the role of family businesses in supporting regional economies.
The speakers’ list also includes Khalid Al Yahmadi, CEO of Amjaad Holding in Oman; Michael Tarnoff, CEO of Alliance Care Technologies; Shafia Ali Alkheyaili, Founder and CEO of Osool Engineering Consultants; and Faizal Kottikollon, Founder and Chairman of KEF Holdings, among others.
