Britain and the European Union have (EU) amended the original Northern Ireland Protocol deal and agreed a new "Windsor framework" to end uncertainty for the province, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Monday.
Sunak says the UK and the EU have made a "decisive breakthrough” in talks to end a post-Brexit trade dispute.
He says the new deal, dubbed the Windsor Framework, marks a "new chapter” in the UK-EU relationship.
Speaking alongside EU leader Ursula von der Leyen in Windsor on Monday, Sunak said the two sides had agreed changes that will remove onerous customs checks on goods moving to Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK. Von der Leyen said the agreement restored UK-EU relations to the "right footing.”
