Abu Dhabi: The hospitality industry in Abu Dhabi extends beyond luxury. The city’s culinary scene is a highlight, with restaurants that range from Michelin-starred fine dining establishments to local eateries offering authentic Emirati cuisine. Cultural experiences also play a significant role in the hospitality sector. Iconic landmarks like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, an architectural marvel and a cultural hub, provide visitors with an immersive journey through art and history.
This was stated by Michael Koth, General Manager, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Abu Dhabi & Area Vice President – Operations Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, during an exclusive interview with Gulf Today, adding that the city is not only striving to be a top-notch destination but also ensuring that its growth is eco-conscious and sustainable, preserving the natural beauty that captivates visitors.
“And let’s not forget the rich cultural heritage that permeates every corner of Abu Dhabi. The traditional souks, the flavours of local cuisine, and the warmth of Emirati hospitality all weave a tapestry that celebrates the city’s roots amidst its modern aspirations.” Koth added.
To a question about reservation and hotel bookings for Christmas and New Year, he replied that bookings have been positive throughout the festive season and New Year’s Eve, adding that the majority of their guests are from the UK, German speaking countries, Russia, India, China and Japan.

“From our diverse culinary offerings and rooms and suites furnished to the highest levels of comfort to extensive menus of spa treatments and beach activities, this Palace is no ordinary place – it’s a haven of leisure.” He added.
“Our main markets are the UK, German, Russia, India, and China – which we aim to expand further. There are plans to develop new markets in our portfolio and are working on strategising our resources for such initiatives.”
Highlighting the hotel sustainability drive aligned with UAE Cop28, Koth mentioned that sustainability is the north star that helps us to navigate the direction in which we’d like to move towards with our operations and offerings. We introduced vegan rooms early this year, which are the first of their kind in this region and luxury hospitality globally. From beautifully crafted furniture down to every single last fixture, nothing is made using animal-based products or materials.
