First-ever air taxi starts operations in Pakistani city of Karachi

Air tax service has finally become a reality in Pakistan as the first air taxi service has been launched in Karachi city on Wednesday.

Karachi welcomed a new era of air travel with the introduction of an air taxi service, promising adventure and convenience for travellers.

The inaugural flight by Sky Wings Aviation, a private flying academy, which took off from Karachi Airport, treated passengers to a breathtaking aerial view of the metropolis during its 45-minute journey.

The air taxi is aimed at facilitating air travel for both adventure and emergency health situations. As the large volume of traffic on roads and highways has become problematic for the residents of Karachi, it becomes difficult for individuals to travel long distances even in emergency situations.

The air service at the moment costs Rs95,000 (Dhs1,241) for one person for an aerial view of the city of lights for an hour.

"Initially the services will be available for airports of Sindh and Balochistan, later the scope of the project would be extended to other provinces like Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces,” Chief Operating Officer, Sky Wings, Imran Aslam Khan told a private news channel.

Aslam Khan said that travellers may avail the service by booking at Rs95,000 per hour via Sky Wings website.

"During the air travel, three people can have an aerial view of Karachi and its surroundings from height,” Aslam Khan maintained.

The CEO added that 4 air taxis are available in the first phase of operations and they’ve already been contacted by numerous residents for service.
