To fulfill its commitment to social responsibility and cultivate a culture of volunteerism among its staff, the Ajman Department of Finance (DoF) has undertaken numerous community initiatives in collaboration with various charitable and humanitarian organisations across the UAE.
These initiatives are geared towards fostering values of generosity and solidarity while enhancing the quality of life and promoting happiness for all segments of society during the holy month.
Marwan Al Ali, Director General of the Department of Finance, emphasised, “At the Ajman Department of Finance, we acknowledge the vital role of partnerships between charitable organisations and the government sector in sustaining humanitarian endeavours and fostering social cohesion. Therefore, we consistently initiate programmes to serve the community and foster happiness in collaboration with charitable organisations and humanitarian institutions nationwide, thereby contributing to the realisation of sustainable development goals.”
He added: “We take pride in the dedication of our employees at all levels who have been actively involved in preparing and participating in community initiatives throughout the holy month, aiming to bring joy to deserving individuals. Through these efforts, they embody the values of kindness and positive engagement ingrained in our work ethos and the spirit of giving deeply rooted in UAE society.”
Maryam Al Dhahouri, Head of the Sustainability Team, stated: “Volunteer work is a noble societal value that the department is committed to instilling among employees due to its vital role in serving the community and supporting sustainable development in the country. We are pleased to fulfill our societal responsibility through these engagements, setting a positive example in giving back to our nation and fostering unity and solidarity among its people.”
In detail, the department’s employees distributed 4,540 iftar meals to fasting workers and individuals with limited income in the emirate, with active participation from community members. These initiatives, targeting diverse segments of society, underscore the department’s proactive role in promoting goodwill and cooperation to support individuals and families, thereby spreading joy and security throughout the Emirate of Ajman, under the guidance and participation of His Excellency Marwan Al Ali, Director General of the Department.
Furthermore, the department continued its partnership with the Zayed Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation and the Emirates Council Ambassadors in implementing the initiative to distribute breakfast meals to needy families, successfully providing 500 meals to eligible recipients across Ajman.
Through its annual ‘Lokmat Khair’ initiative, organised in collaboration with Al Ihsan Charity Association, the department distributed 1,200 meals to fasting workers before suhoor as a gesture of gratitude for their efforts in serving the community.
Furthermore, the department’s director and employee volunteers participated in the “Ramadan Aman 10” campaign initiated by Al-Ihsan Charity Association. They contributed to preparing 2,840 iftar boxes to be distributed to vehicle drivers and their companions at traffic intersections in the emirate before Maghrib prayer. This initiative aims to reduce traffic accidents caused by speeding to reach iftar gatherings.
