Abu Dhabi Airports and Etihad Airport Services have signed a contract to extend their long-standing partnership in providing ground services for passengers at Zayed International Airport to further enhance the passenger experience by offering seamless services.
This announcement coincides with Abu Dhabi Airports’ recent passenger traffic results, which witnessed a significant growth of 35.6%, demonstrating the strong demand for travel.
Both entities will collaborate on various initiatives to improve operational efficiencies, safety, and the quality of ground handling services, ultimately providing a world-class experience for travellers passing through Zayed International Airport.
Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, emphasised confidence in Etihad Airport Services as the ideal partner for managing ground handling operations amid expansion.
Jubran Albreiki, General Manager of Etihad Airport Services, emphasised the agreement’s significance in enhancing the passenger experience at Zayed International Airport and ensuring a seamless journey for customers.
Etihad Airport Services, a fully owned subsidiary of ADQ, will provide a comprehensive range of ground handling services, including baggage handling, cargo services, and aircraft servicing.
Separately, Abu Dhabi Airports, the operator of the Emirate’s five airports, has released recently its exceptional passenger traffic results for the first quarter of 2024. The travels of more than 6.9 million passengers were facilitated through the Abu Dhabi Airports’ network from January to March 2024, marking a robust surge of 35.6% compared to the same period in 2023, when figures reached 5.1 million.
Buoyed by strong global demand for passenger and commercial services, the first quarter of 2024 witnessed a positive upswing in flight movements, with 61,737 movements recorded, representing an 11.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
