Arabs Got Talent contestant Jennifer Grout, who made headlines in 2014, with her conversion to Islam, is once again in the limelight.
The American singer was seen in a video, reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
The video shows Jennifer reciting the “Ayat Al-Kursi” flawlessly.
She has been nominated for the Sharjah Prize for the Promotion of Arab Culture, and continues to strive to serve as a bridge between America and the Middle East through her deep love of music.
Jennifer hails from the family of musicians and began her artistic career as a classical singer.
A native of Boston, she studied at Longy School of Music and Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
She moved to Canada to pursue higher education. In Montreal, she developed a great interest in Arabic music and learned to play the Arabic lute and began listening to well-known Arab singers such as Fairuz and Oum Kalthoum.
In 2013, she had the chance to appear on MBC's Arab's Got Talent, singing pieces by Oum Kalthoum and Asmahan, and managed to come in second place. She went on to participate in several festivals and performances in different countries around the world including Lebanon, Dubai, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, Canada, Qatar, and the USA.
Jennifer has recently started a project with a Takht ensemble in Brooklyn of exclusively Tarab music.
