Actor Nico Santos has revealed that his stepfather has died from Covid-19, and that his mother is still fighting the virus, although she hasn't required hospitalisation yet.
The “Crazy Rich Asians”star posted a message on his Instagram account, revealing that he could not spend time with his stepfather before he died and is unable to comfort his mother.

In an emotional eulogy to his stepdad, he wrote:
“He was a kind, caring man. Friendly to a fault,” he wrote of his stepfather. ”He always greeted strangers walking past him with a chipper ‘Good Morning!’ and a big smile. He had a great laugh that filled the room with joy.”
“The loss of my stepfather is devastating but what has gutted me is that this pandemic has kept my family apart.”

“I can’t hug my brother as he contemplates a world without his father,” he continued. ”I can’t wipe away the tears from my nephews’ eyes as they wonder why their Lolo Sonny isn’t here anymore.”
He ended the post by thanking everyone who has "offered up prayers and assistance to our family during this difficult time."
He requested people to “continue to pray” and “send healing energy” to his mum.
A number of Santos’ fellow actors and comedians shared their sympathies in the comments section of his post.
“Saturday Night Live”writer Bowen Yang said: “I am so unbelievably sorry Nico. Wishing you and your family peace. Hoping for a speedy recovering for your mother.”
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”star Stephanie Beatriz wrote: “Nico I am so so sorry. Tito Sonny sounds like an incredible human. Holding you and your family in the light.”
Nico was born in the Philippines and moved to Oregon in the US with his family at 16.
He starred as Oliver T'sien in "Crazy Rich Asians."
He is also seen in the NBC hit series "Superstore" as sales associate Mateo Liwanag.
