Dubbed as the ‘greatest literary show on Earth,’ the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) is back for its annual date with literary aficionados.
Every year the fest — set against the backdrop of Indian state Rajasthan’s stunning cultural heritage and the Diggi Palace in the state capital Jaipur — brings together a diverse mix of the world’s greatest luminaries on one stage to champion the freedom to express and engage in thoughtful debate and dialogue.
As the festival returns for another line-up of stimulating discourse, it has decided to embrace the digital medium, thereby disseminating the power of books, and imparting a free flow of knowledge and information to book lovers in Colorado, Houston, New York and Toronto.
Online editions of the global literary phenomenon will be held in these cities from Nov.8 to 29.
The festival will have online editions in Colorado, Houston, New York and Toronto this year.
The programme is set to include poignant topics like the COVID-19 pandemic, environment, poetry, international politics, racial equality and discrimination, and entertainment among others.
"The challenges of our changing times have led us at JLF to create and curate an incredibly rich and diverse digital platform that will as ever, engage with both the local and the global, giving voice to writers, poets and thinkers as they celebrate books, dialogue and debate," JLF co-director Namita Gokhale said.
"Literature, ideas and knowledge are at the heart of our every effort to ensure a free flow of knowledge and information, especially in these times," Teamwork Arts Managing Director Sanjoy K. Roy said.
The four international city-based events will bring together Nobel laureates, Pulitzer, Commonwealth and other award-winning speakers to share their ideas and vision on a slew of issues.
