Grand Central Publishing is calling the book "a ringing tribute” to "everyday heroes.” McRaven has met them everywhere, from battlefields to college campuses. He has said before that while he grew up idolising Batman and Superman, he came to realise real heroes were entirely human.
"Admiral McRaven deploys powerful examples to define innate qualities of the human spirit that will uplift our next generation of everyday heroes - and profoundly shape our future,” Ben Sevier, Grand Central senior vice president and publisher, said in a statement.
McRaven is also the author of the bestselling "Make Your Bed" and "Sea Stories: My Life in Special Operations.”
Admiral McRaven was selected as the next chancellor of the University of Texas System in July 2014. He was appointed on January 5, 2015. The Trump campaign transition team considered McRaven as a potential candidate for National Security Adviser.
On May 31, 2018 McRaven stepped down from his position as chancellor of the university, due to health issues and a desire to spend more time with his family.
