Japanese tennis player and star Naomi Osaka withdrew from the French Open because of not being in the best of mental health.
The American actor Will Smith took to his social media account to show his support for Naomi and her stand, stating that the officials were wrong in not taking her legit concern seriously.
As Osaka announced publicly that she didn’t want to speak to the media she was given a fine of $15,000 fine for not meeting media requirements.
She even took to social media to share her thoughts on the issue.
In a post shared on her Twitter account Naomi stated that she was suffering from mental health issues ever since 2018 and that she is backing out from the tournament, as she didn’t want to be a distraction to other players.
Fans and followers flooded social media with mixed reactions, with some sharing their disappointment that she wouldn’t be seen in the tournament.
Mental health is a serious issue and needs to addressed with much more seriousness.
