The UK government lifted daily pandemic restrictions in England, scrapping all social distancing in a step condemned by scientists and opposition parties as a dangerous leap into the unknown.
London music lovers flocked to Kaleidoscope festival in London and rejoicing in human interaction as England lifted most COVID restrictions.
The festival drew more than 10,000 people.
"I'm really excited to be here," says Leonie Lewis, one of the party's attendees. I haven't done anything like this in two years.” She braved the stormy weather to attend the festival at the famous Alexandra Palace location, which previously hosted concerts by some of the major artists and bands such as Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and Jay-Z.
The Kaleidoscope Festival, in which bands including "The Grove Armada" and "The Coral" participated, in addition to well-known comedians and writers, is one of the largest live concerts in Britain since the country lifted the last restrictions on July 19.
The masks were replaced by smiles of the attendees to the first rule-free live music events since the pandemic began last year, dancing and rejoicing.
A 25-year-old Joshua Brights expressed some concern over the pandemic, especially with the significant increase in HIV infections in Britain due to the outbreak of the fastest-growing delta mutant, says: “I realise at the same time that all attendees have a negative result for the corona examination. In the last 48 hours, when we walk through central London we are surrounded by as many if not more people without knowing anything about them.”
"The music completely lifted my spirits," explains the young man, who came specifically to attend the party from Bedford, about 100 kilometers north of London.
