The18th Edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2021 has been launched (Sept. 27 — Oct. 3).
The Arts and Crafts section in ADIHEX showcases art pieces made by talented Emirati, Arab and foreign artists. The platform has provided a genuine opportunity for art makers to connect with art enthusiasts who are fond of arts related to cultural heritage.
Arts and Crafts is one of the important sections in the annual event, and it offers dedicated galleries for local and international artists. They bring together creatives from different continents and has attracted enthusiastic artistic participation with paintings, sculptures, photographs, ornaments and crafts.
Based on this year’s theme, “Sustainability and heritage: A Reborn Aspiration”, participants have produced artworks and paintings that have impressed several collectors and inspired future artists. ADIHEX was keen to ensure that the art industry is represented strongly in the exhibition.
Several women artists have enthusiastically participated for the first time — and have excelled in the event. They said ADIHEX was a new experience for them, giving a lot of exposure, helping them gain experience and allowing them to learn new techniques from other artists.
ADIHEX also helped them network and connect with other artists, which will guide them to explore new approaches in future.
Ebdaa Al Hammadi, a third-time exhibitor in ADIHEX, said that this was the right platform for budding artists to connect and learn from others. “We are proud that our country supports us in developing our skills and provides an excellent platform,” she said.

Thuraya Al Hosani, Abu Dhabi-based watercolour artist, exhibited her work for the first time in the programme. She spoke about her favourite art piece, “Doctor,” which is close to her heart. Created during the pandemic, the work is dedicated to front-line warriors who are saving the nation.
Mona Al Ghassani spent time bonding with her son Saif Ahmed Al Obaidli, over a collection of art. She is an artist who encourages her son to explore his skills in photography. The Emirati mother felt proud of him. It was Saif’s first ADIHEX exhibition.
He was overwhelmed by the experience, and shared his feelings. He said that “I have been doing photography since 2014; the passion relaxes me a lot. Photography is my life, and ADIHEX is the right place for anyone to see other works and connect with them.
“It is an excellent platform for any artist, and I am thankful that my country supports us in all ways. My mother has been the backbone for me in learning this art, and I learned a lot from her; we are participating together this year, which is an unforgettable experience. So these are special moments that ADIHEX creates for us.”
Japanese traditional falconry is a bridge for cultural exchange between the UAE and Japan. Tomomi Yoshida, representative of the Japanese Pavilion, said that “ADIHEX is an excellent platform to connect and showcase our culture to UAE visitors. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, our falconers were unable to participate this time.
“But we are carrying out various activities such as Yabusame (horseback archery), Chado (tea ceremony), Wadaiko (drums), Koto & Nikon (zither & harp) and Judo.” In addition, Matcha green tea and Ikebana (flower art) are also being showcased.
ADIHEX 2021 celebrates deep-rooted culture and traditions. It is the only exhibition of its kind dedicated to the heritage and traditions, as also art and sports.
For the first time, the event held for the length of a seven-day exhibition, allowed visitors to view and purchase the latest products and services in camping, hunting, equestrian and outdoor and marine sports.
In addition, live performances such as equestrian and sniffer dog shows, workshops, camel auctions, gaming arenas and stage plays, are on offer. International companies keen on promoting hunting sports, wildlife preservation, and environmental protection and wishing to have a glimpse of local culture, have always participated.
Handicrafts on view include falcon hoods, handmade knives and perches for the falconer and saddles. Public attractions include Wings of Sahara Bird Show, Camel & Falcon Auction, traditional Japanese Archery, Saluki Beauty Show, and several informative workshops.
Women in falconry is one of the main topics discussed at the event. The UAE encourages women and girls to learn the skills and techniques of falconry, hunting and safari, and encourages them to participate in falconry competitions - just as has happened in equestrian and other traditional sports.
Its seven day duration reflects the increasing public turnout that ADIHEX attracts, and its response to the aspirations of exhibitors in the 11 sectors that constitute the largest event of its kind in the Middle East and Africa region.
Feras al Hussni, Managing Director of B360 Watch, a new exhibitor, said that, “we create exceptional luxurious watches with unique hand-painted designs that tell stories. As an exhibitor, this is an opportunity to expand business internationally, garner extensive international media coverage.”
“We are receiving several inquiries about Equusir Best Box, the innovative product from Equusir that maintains the horse’s physical health and sustainability in the long term, and increases sporting performance. ADIHEX is the right place to meet the potential buyers, and it’s easy to promote our brand to the global audience,” says Dalia Qaragholi, Equusir sales representative.
ADIHEX sees 640 exhibitors and brands from 44 countries, out of which 319 are Emirati exhibitors.
