British singer Adele released her first album in six years on Friday, and critics and audiences alike expressed their admiration for the album, through which she said she was trying to explain her divorce to her young son.
The album is called "30", and is the fourth recorded album for Adele, who has become one of the most successful singer-songwriters of all time, thanks to her songs of separation, regret and nostalgia, topping the charts.
Critics praised Adele's honesty in the album, which she described as "sensitive" and begins with poignant soundtracks in which the singer, known for her secretive personality, talks with her nine-year-old son, Angelo, 9.
The release of the album "30" comes years after her previous album, "25," won a Grammy Award.

Like her previous albums, the album carries a number that symbolizes an important age stage in her life.
Adele announced her separation from husband Simon Konecki in 2019.
Adele returned to the music scene last month, with the piano-accompanied narration song "Easy On Me" that quickly went to the top of music charts around the world.
"I can't get enough of #Adele30 it's so emotionally brilliant and worth the 6 year wait," one user wrote on Twitter.
"One second into Adele’s album and I already love it," wrote another fan.
