Bollywood actress and former beauty queen Sushmita Sen, who recently announced her break-up with beau Rohman Shawl, has shared a cryptic note about taking risks to be happy. Sushmita had mentioned that their relationship was long over but the duo still remained very good friends. She took to Instagram on Sunday, where she shared a close-up picture of herself and mentioned that it takes a risk to be happy and it is not easy.
The actress captioned the image: “Taking a risk to survive takes Will...Taking a risk to be happy, that takes guts.” You got guts people, believe me, we all do!!! let no one tell you otherwise!!! I love you!!! #duggadugga.” Earlier this year, speculations about them separating started doing the rounds when Sushmita made a post on Instagram and mentioned walking out of a futile relationship. On the work front, Sushmita was recently seen in the second season of the International Emmy nominated series ‘Aarya’, directed by Ram Madhvani. Sushmita Sen was previously crowned Femina Miss India 1994 at the age of 18.
Sen is the first Indian to win the competition and has since primarily worked in Hindi films. Sen won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the comedy film “Biwi No.1” (1999), and was also nominated in the category for her roles in “Sirf Tum” (1999) and “Filhaal...” (2002). Her commercially successful films include “Aankhen” (2002), “Main Hoon Na” (2004), and “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?” (2005). In 1994, as a teenager, Sen participated in the Femina Miss India contest. She won the title ‘Femina Miss India Universe’, earning the right to compete at the Miss Universe 1994 contest.
At the Miss Universe contest, Sen ranked third overall in the preliminaries, behind Miss Colombia Carolina Gómez and Miss Venezuela Minorka Mercado. Sen went on to place second, fifth and third in the subsequent rounds and finally won the title and crown of Miss Universe 1994. She was the first Indian to win the title. After the Times Group relinquished the rights to choose the Indian representative to Miss Universe, Sen’s project, “I Am She — Miss Universe India,” took over.
It ran for three years (from 2010 to 2012). Femina was awarded the contract back. As a celebration of 65th Miss Universe, 23 years after winning the pageant, she returned to Manila, Philippines, in January 2017, as one of the judges of the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant.
The pageant took place at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines on 30 January 2017. Joining her as judges were Cynthia Bailey, Mickey Boardman, Francine LaFrak, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes, and Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres. After her reign as Miss Universe, Sushmita became an actress. Her first film “Dastak” was in 1996, in which she played the victim of a stalker, played by Sharad Kapoor. Mukul Dev starred as the lead actor. She then starred in the 1997 Tamil action film Ratchagan.
