‘Tomb Raider’ star Alicia Vikander says her son owns more clothes than her

“Tomb Raider” star Alicia Vikander says her wardrobe is in need of a serious update as her eight-month-old son Mark owns more clothes than her.
The “Irma Vep” star admitted that she likes to pack lightly, which is likely influenced by the fact that growing up, her family didn’t have a lot of luxuries, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, Alicia recalled being thrilled the first time she saw a pool at a hotel in Turkey when she was a teenager.
Vikander said: “I don’t own much. (My son) has much more stuff than me right now.” She added that she generally packs just one suitcase containing “two pairs of jeans and three sweaters” when she travels. The actress also explained that despite her modest childhood she considers her upbringing in Sweden to be “amazing.”
“I had an amazing childhood. I’m fortunate to have a really solid base, emotionally, with friends and family very close to.” Alicia said that even though she generally packs just a few outfits when travelling, she loves dressing up for red carpet events for her movies.
“I get excited about dressing up. People come and see us at a premiere dressed up and walking these carpets, and that’s fun, of course. But that’s the illusion of what the industry is. (But it’s really) interest, and passion, and a will to make something. “It’s four months where a bunch of strangers work 15-hour days, six days a week, and don’t sleep,” she added. Alicia is a Swedish actress, dancer and producer.
Alicia began acting as a child in minor stage productions at “The Göteborg Opera,” and trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm, and the School of American Ballet in New York. She began her professional acting career by appearing in Swedish short films and television series, and first gained recognition in Northern Europe for her role as Josefin Björn-Tegebrandt in the TV drama Second Avenue (2007).
Vikander made her film debut in “Pure” (2009). She attracted widespread recognition in 2012 for portraying Princess Ekaterina “Kitty” Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya in Joe Wright’s film adaptation of “Anna Karenina” (2012), and Queen Caroline Mathilde in the acclaimed Danish film “A Royal Affair” (2012), receiving a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination for her breakthrough.
She went on to star in the 2013 Swedish drama film “Hotel” (2013)and appeared in the Julian Assange biopic “The Fifth Estate” (2013) that same year. In 2014 and 2015, Vikander achieved global recognition and acclaim for her roles as activist Vera Brittain in “Testament of Youth” (2014), an AI in “Ex Machina” (2014), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress, and painter Gerda Wegener in “The Danish Girl” (2015), for which she received the Academy Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She had a supporting role in the action film “Jason Bourne” (2016) and starred as Lara Croft in the adventure film “Tomb Raider” (2018). In 2020, Vikander portrayed American feminist Gloria Steinem in The Glorias.
