With the aim of empowering women in the society without any discrimination, a Dubai-based businesswoman has produced a feature film based on a true story of a girl of determination and launched this in Dubai.
The film ‘Launch She’ was produced by Kushbu Surana. She is also Founder and CEO of Launch She, a local platform to empower women in a number of fields to provide appropriate training, mentorship and funding.
The premier held at VOX Cinema, Mall of the Emirates, was attended by dignitaries including Sheikh Rashid Bin Majid Al Mualla, a member of ruling family of Umm Al Quwain, Dr Abdulla Khalid Saeed Al Kinda, Dr Suaad Al Shamsi, first female aircraft engineer in the UAE and Walid, Founder & CEO of Dubai Consultancy.
Being an award winning investment banker at Bank Of America, Surana went on to start a women accelerator in Dubai to support ambitious and innovative women entrepreneurs around the world by enabling them from idea generation to a business venture.
Talking to the Gulf Today, she said, “We at the platform of ‘Launch She’ wants all women to take the first step to turn their dreams into reality. The short film ‘Launch She’ is our CSR project and its about one of successful story of a young girl of determination who had a dream to fly airplane. We gave her wings to provide all the necessary training and funding to fulfil her dream to fly a remote control aircraft and she did it,” she said.
She further said, “The initiative ‘Launch She’ was started in 2021, with an aim to support ambitious and innovative women entrepreneurs in the UAE enabling them from idea generation to a business venture. It provides counseling for the women entrepreneurs to build on generating the idea in the initial stage and then they undergo business training to develop their prototype, build their product and launch their business,” she added.
The short film has been directed by Niteesh Mohanan under the banner Avighna Production. The main cast in the lead are Laurance Langdon, Madeline Langdon and Emma Brain.
It is also mentioned that the girl’s role played by Madeline Langdon as debut her film career and while talking to media she said that currently she is focusing on school and will definitely join acting school to further pursue career in film industry.
The short film ‘Launch She’, released in Dubai ahead of its global launch, is about a young women of determination on a wheelchair who’s dream is to fly a plane but is discouraged by everyone around her. She has an idol – Jessica Cox whom she admires and wants to become like her.
