There has been a lot of talk about why ace star Tom Cruise and director James Cameron did not turn up for the Oscar awards event. The reason that was being bandied about was that they were trying to ‘snub’ the organisers because their movies did not bag the Best Picture gong at the glittering ceremony.
Well, at least where Cruise was concerned, nothing could be further from the truth. Rather than go through the ritual of sitting in an audience and clapping and smiling for the paparazzi, Cruise decided to have a heart-warming time in utterly cold conditions 500 miles away – in an igloo.
The Hollywood hulk flew to Svalbard, south of the North Pole, to film scenes for the 8th edition of his blockbuster 'Mission Impossible' series, according to reports in sections of the British media.
Tom is thought to have been joined by director Chris McQuarrie after dismissing the idea of taking a private jet to Hollywood to attend the Oscars.
The choice is clear for the actor: he would rather do what he is extremely good at – making amazing movies that millions would like to watch rather than sit in a crowd and behave in a humdrum manner. He's seen it all before, said an insider.
