Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has been slammed by a politician in her country, saying she is utterly shameless for speaking in glowing terms about Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. Senator Dr Afnan Ullah Khan also said Mahira has mental health issues after she spoke publicly about her love and admiration for Shah Rukh at an Arts Council of Pakistan event.
Mahira has spoken glowingly about her fascination for Shah Rukh, who treated her like a perfect gentleman during the filming of the blockbuster Raees. Mahira was Shah Rukh’s co-star in the movie.
“Books can be written on Mahira Khan's character, she also flatters Indian actors for money,” Khan tweeted.
The remarks were condemned by several celebrities.
While speaking about Shah Rukh, Mahira always seemed to blush, a report in a section of the media said.
Shah Rukh was the hero of her time, and she said she was in love with him and would fancy working with him. “It was a dream of mine that I never knew would be completed,” she said.
Talking about how the shape of her nose was much talked about, Mahira stated, 'Once, Shah Rukh Khan and I were doing a scene, and he said, 'Look, Look, this is the war of noses!''
Mahira is one of the select few Pakistani stars who have bagged a leading lady’s role in a Bollywood movie. Other actresses are Saba Qamar, Zeba Bakhtiar and Salma Agha.
