With a successful run of her latest release “Tiger 3,” where she plays a spy, actress Katrina Kaif says her character Zoya too can have an origin story.
Asked if she feels that there should be an origin story for Zoya just like Tiger, essayed by Salman Khan, Katrina told IANS: “So the beauty of the spy verse is that I think Aditya Chopra has created is there’s so much room and there’s so much scope for all of the characters he has created because they are so well written.
Zoya first appeared in “Ek Tha Tiger,” a 2012 action thriller film directed by Kabir Khan, where Katrina played an ISI agent. She was then seen in 2017 in the film “Tiger Zinda Hai” directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, where she played Tiger’s wife. She then was seen in “Tiger 3.” All Katrina wants is a good story and script for a film on Zoya.
“If there is a good story, my belief is a good story and a good script should always deserve to be made. So if we get or if you know, the team cracks an amazing story, which everyone’s excited about of course why not. There can definitely be an origin story for Zoya,” she added.
Katrina Kaif, who reprises the role of Zoya in “Tiger 3,” said that the franchise has been an important part of her life and it is really close to her and co-actor Salman Khan’s heart. Katrina, together with Salman Khan and Emraan Hashmi were interacting with the media and fans during the success bash of “Tiger 3” in Mumbai last week.
When asked about being with the franchise for the beginning and future part of hit movie, Katrina said: “For each and every one of us, the ‘Tiger’ franchise is extremely special, it’s the closest film to Salman and mine hearts.”
“I just realised today that this franchise has been part of our lives for almost 11 years. From “Ek Tha Tiger,” “Tiger Zinda Hai,” and now, I think this has been a part of our lives, on-screen and off-screen. And I hope that we get to keep making many more of them,” added Katrina.
It is a sequel to “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017) and is the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. The film is set after the events of “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), “War” (2019) and “Pathaan” (2023).
On the work front, Katrina Kaif will soon be seen sharing screen space with south sensation Vijay Sethupathi in “Merry Christmas,” helmed by Sriram Raghavan. In an interaction with the fans, Emraan praised Salman as the co-star, and said: “What you see is what you get. There is no fictiousness. He keeps you so at ease to perform. My first scene was with him only, and it was a long monologue. And it was very easy to work with him. I am very fond of him. It doesn’t show actually (laughs).”
