BOSNIA: A traditional Bosnian rug made up of 25 thousand plastic bottle caps was on display in Sarajevo for World Recycling Day.
Unlike any average rug, Bosnian artists came up with the spectacular idea to recycle plastic bottle caps to make the traditional Bosnian rug.
This carpet was made by 700 citizens of Sarajevo and covers 30 square meters of surface.
The carpet was made using a total of 25,000 plastic bottle caps.
The bottle cap rug is made to encourage recycling amongst people in Bosnia.
“ We have managed to transform waste packaging into art and this is the result,” says Alma Hrasnica Dervisevic from Green art.
They made the Capocillim rug (rug of lids) by copying the motif of Bosnian rugs.
