LOS ANGELES: Singer Miley Cyrus has debuted a new hairstyle inspired by her former Disney Channel character Hannah Montana.
The star unveiled her new look on Twitter and Instagram on Thursday evening, revealing in a series of photographs and videos how she had her hair cut with a fringe and dyed blonde to emulate the protagonist Hannah Montana, a teenage singer.
In a video showing off the final look, Cyrus told fans that it was "so hard going back and forth that I decided I'll just be Hannah forever."
The 26-year-old later shared several more videos showing herself sitting in a car singing along to the television show's theme tune "The Best of Both Worlds."
Cyrus was put forward for the titular role in Hannah Montana when she was 11 years old, having originally auditioned to play the teenage singer's best friend.
The show premiered in 2006, and ran for four seasons until 2011.
While Cyrus previously said that Hannah Montana is "chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in [her] backyard", it seems the star had no qualms about bringing the character to life once more.
In one photograph shared on Twitter, the singer took a selfie of her new look in a bathroom mirror while wearing a punk music T-shirt.
"Hannah is punk now!" Cyrus wrote in the caption.

Several of the star's fans drew comparisons between the picture and a Hannah Montana episode, in which the character dons a bright orange wig, black lipstick and a red netted top.
"It’s this iconic episode all over again," one fan commented.
Earlier this year at the Grammy Awards, Cyrus joined her godmother Dolly Parton on stage to deliver a moving rendition of the country singer's hit "Jolene".
Parton received the MusiCares Person of the Year accolade at the awards ceremony, in honour of her musical achievements and philanthropic work.
