UAE allocates 15 medical facilities for pregnant women to avoid COVID-19 transmission

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that 15 medical centres have been allocated for pregnant women across the seven emirates to avoid the risk of exposing them to COVID-19.

The ministry said more than one health centre in each emirate will provide follow-up health care services to would-be mothers with the highest international standards.

The ministry said, “We have designated specific health centres in each emirate to provide care services for pregnant women that follow the highest safety standards to reduce the chances of transmitting the infection.”

There will be four centres for pregnant women in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Ajman will have two centres. Dubai residents are directed to visit the family medical centre to be allocated in Sharjah.

The Ministry also provided a set of advice to the pregnant woman, to protect herself from the COVID-19 by committing to attend pregnancy follow-up visits.

Failure to comply leads to severe harm to the mother during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry advised that it is necessary to adhere to the specified visits during pregnancy, and in case of anxiety and fear of any complications, an immediate appointment must be sought with health authorities.

The ministry also said if a person at home suffers from symptoms similar to those of COVID-19, avoid any contact with the person and notify the health authorities.

The authorities also said that to ensure the safety of mothers, the total number of visits would be reduced according to each case.

After a visit, mothers will be notified accordingly with their next check-up and have been urged to cooperate with health workers and specialists.
