Amidst the lockdown for many playing video games increased as a way to cope with all the changes in the world due to the pandemic.

For those that enjoy playing video games, one of the reasons many are dedicated to it is due to it resembling a community.

During the lockdown and social distancing, human interaction was limited; thus, staying connected was achieved while playing videogames online with friends.

Furthermore, video games provided a chance to remain connected and a mean to pass the time while following safety measures and staying at home.

17 year old Safiuddin Farooqi shares how video games have become such an essential part of his lifestyle, especially during the lockdown.

"Video games have always been a part of me and my friend’s lives. Lockdown has given us more time to spend gaming. My friends and I spend time together on ps4 talking and playing which helps us stay connected and since we're not able to meet each other ps4 is the one of the ways we use to communicate with each other and talk about stuff.

"All of us bought fifa 20 to play together and ever since then we've been playing every day."

It is vital to note for many the human connection online is a factor that paves the way for normalcy in an everchanging time.

Some of the games that are most enjoyed are Call of Duty (COD), Fortnite, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us Part II, and many more. Also, animal crossing on Nintendo Switch has become very popular during the beginning of lockdown because it was uniting people altogether during a tough time.
