After a break-up, some people like to throw away any kind of memento or object that reminds them of their past relationship.
One woman took this to the extreme by travelling 5,953 miles from Los Angeles, US, to South Korean capital Seoul to remove a so-called love-lock from a popular tourist attraction.
OK, so she was going to Seoul anyway – but Kassie Yeung decided, while there, to detour to the bridge and documented the “petty” move on TikTok, in a video which has since amassed over 6.3 million views on the app.
At the beginning, the caption on the video reads: “I am one petty mf [motherf**ker] idc [I don’t care] what anyone says.”
In 2019, Kassie and her ex travelled to the top of the Seoul Tower – commonly known as the Namsan Tower – to add a padlock to the railing.
She told Insider that she returned in the spring of 2021 to remove it out of “pettiness.”
Namsan Tower is a popular tourist attraction for couples who wish to attach padlocks to the railings there.
Often the padlocks are inscribed with their initials or a heartfelt message to symbolise their love for one another.
The video shows Kassie travelling there on the airplane, later buying bolt cutters to remove the padlock and then riding up the cable cart towards the tower.
She told Insider that she searched through the hundreds of locks for around 30 minutes before finding her and her ex’s one – which she then removes.
Kassie then films herself waving and holding the loose padlock in celebration with the caption “F yeah.”
So far, the video has over 1.2 million likes and over 5,000 comments from people praising Kassie for her pettiness.
One person wrote: “That is simply QUEEN behaviour.”
People seemed to overwhelmingly agree with this comment as it received over 78, 000 likes.
“I mean the upmost respect when I say this but. I fear you,” another person commented.
Someone else joked: “NOT ME THINKING U WERE JUST GONNA SNIP RANDOM PPLS LOCKS.”
“I strive to be you,” a fourth person said.
Kassie told Insider that removing the padlock wasn’t the only reason for the trip. She was visiting Seoul to pursue a backup dancing career and remembered the lock she and her ex had left on the tower while she was planning the trip.
