In the study, two psychologists at the institute found that a larger pupil size is closely related to intelligence, memory ability, and attention control.
Two joint experiments were conducted with more than 500 people aged between 18 and 35, whose pupils were measured using a camera, a computer and an eye-tracking device.
Scientists found that some participants were able to perform cognitive tasks designed to test their “fluid” intelligence, the ability to solve new problems without prior knowledge, and cognitive tasks related to working memory capacity, the ability to store information for a period of time, and tasks related to attention control.
It was found that people who succeeded in performing these tasks had large pupils in their eyes.
